FORT MYERS, FL  -- 4/11/2012 – Award-winning novel The Plague is being staged for the first time in an adaptation by Lab Theater’s playwright-in-residence, Louise Wigglesworth.

A haunting tale of human resilience in the face of horror, Camus’ story of a mysterious plague ravaging a small north-African city is a classic of 20th century literature. Presented by The Laboratory Theater of Florida, The Plague premieres on May 11 at the Kiwanis Hall in Fort Myers' River District.

"This play is a powerful study of human life and meaning in the face of irrational events," says Artistic Director Annette Trossbach. "Some citizens resign themselves to their fate, some blame others, and some dedicate themselves to the common good. The play highlights the innate goodness of humanity.”

Starring a multi-talented ensemble cast of actors, this play features original music and dance, as well as never-before-experienced script by Wigglesworth and unique sound design by Mitch Haley.

The Plague will be presented May 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, and 26 at 8 pm at 1634 Woodford Avenue (corner of 2nd Street and Woodford) in Fort Myers, FL. There will also be a 2 pm matinee on May 20th. Tickets are $20, $12 for students. Call (239) 218-0481
